Hey guys, here is part 1 of a series of posts that I am writing on how to improve search engine rankings.

Part 1 will involve Building Backlinks. We’ll go into a little about how to find quality backlinks quickly and easily, by using free online tools. I like to skip the fluff and get to the quality info, so here you go..

Where to get backlinks?

To easily and quickly, new internet marketers are swarmed with ideas and techniques to boost backlinks and make more money online. I find that keeping my website building formula simple is the key to solid profits (and sanity). So where exactly do you go to build backlinks?

There are 2 websites in particular that I visit to do backlink research.

1. Yahoo Site Explorer
2. Backlink Watch

Both work great, but I tend to use Yahoo just because the data looks more organized. Now to find the actual backlinks, lets first figure out what keywords your targeting. For this example, the keyword were targeting is “rapid weight loss”. Here’s what you do..

1. Type “rapid weight loss” in the google search bar.
2. Analyze top 10 results, and pick 1 or 2 listings that look like authority sites.
3. Grab the URL to the site, and go plug it into Yahoo Site Explorer or Backlink Watch.
4. After a bit, you’ll get information and links to all the backlinks that the particular URL has built over time to improve rankings.
5. All you do now is pick the quality links (or all of them), and get your link on the same exact site. All you have to do now is find maybe a few more places to add your link so you can get even, and get above that sites rankings.

This post could have gone into a lot more detail, but keeping it simple is key. Take action now, and see your site rise tomorrow!

I have over 60+ niche websites now, and I try to test out things like if having a wordpress niche site is better than making one using html and css. So far both types of niche sites get about the same results so there’s no winner there.

I do however prefer wordpress now, because i’m done making super micro niche adsense sites that make pennies a day, and focus more on making small authority websites that bring in more paper. WordPress allows me to edit my complex website with ease, and my favorite thing about the cms, is the huge archive of awesome plugins that help you take care of many tasks.

With all that said, this post is about an amazing little Adsense optimized wordpress theme that will help you manage your website better, and make more bread. This theme is made by the boss man Joel Comm, and is called Socrates. This theme makes it so much easier for you to monitize your site, it can be for Adsense purpose or even affiliate marketing, like Clickbank products or other affiliate offers.

Not all my blog posts will be about making money online, and here’s the perfect example of it. Adsense is a great tool to use to monitize your blog and niche sites, but what if your only making a few dollars a day? If you really want to profit from the Adsense system, then you’ll have to start doing some tests on certain sites that you want to optimize.

1. Place ad above the fold. This simply means that you should be placing your Adsense ads at the top most areas of your website. We do this because we want to make sure the ad is visible right away to the visitor, making the chances of that visitor clicking on the ad a lot higher.
2. Place more ads throughout the site. The more ads you have on your website, the higher the chances of clicks. With that being said, don’t go overboard on the ads and make your website look like trash. Place ads at the beginning and end of important articles to actually help the visitor decide what to do next. Either click on the ad, read something else, or leave.
3. Test different colors, fonts, and formats. This is the golden key, but most of us are too lazy to spend time testing out different background/text colors for the ads, and checking to see which ad sizes make the most money (hint hint: 336×280, 300×250, 728×90, 160×600). In future posts, ill go into more detail about Adsense testing, but you should try to test out different ads every week and take notes on what happens.
